President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made remarks during an iftar program held at the Haliç Congress Center by the Ministry of Health on the occasion of March 14 Medicine Day.

During his speech, President Erdogan also touched upon the developments in health tourism.
“LAST YEAR, WE CLOSED WITH 1.2 MILLION APPLICATIONS IN MEDICAL TOURISM”
President Erdogan, stating “There is no country in the world that can compete with Turkey in terms of healthcare infrastructure, a fact accepted by almost everyone today,” added, “We have reached such a level that now our patients do not go abroad. People from dozens of different countries around the world, from Europe to America, now seek treatment in Turkey, seek healing in Turkish hospitals. Along with our own citizens, hundreds of thousands of people entrust their health to you, the pride of Turkish physicians, every year.
We see that Turkey’s share in health tourism is increasing, and we are pleased about this on behalf of our country. We closed last year with 1.2 million applications in medical tourism. The number of applications in the first two months of this year has exceeded 225,000. With the addition of new city hospitals, I believe that we will achieve much better results in health tourism.
