He also expressed gratitude for the announcement by the BRICS group inviting Egypt to join its membership in January 2024, appreciating the trust of all BRICS member states, with which Egypt shares strong relations.

In his speech, Khaled Tharwat highlighted Egypt’s vast investment opportunities and stunning tourist attractions, noting that Egypt is one of the world’s top tourist destinations. He showcased Egypt’s rich and diverse natural resources, exceptional tourism and archaeological capabilities, and outstanding human resources. Tharwat indicated that Egypt aims to achieve rapid growth in its tourism industry, targeting an annual growth rate of 25% to 30% through the implementation of the National Tourism Strategy. This strategy focuses on three main pillars: increasing the number of incoming flights to Egypt, encouraging and improving the investment climate in the tourism sector, particularly in hospitality, and enhancing the tourist experience in Egypt by raising the quality of services provided.

He affirmed that these meetings would enhance and develop cooperation in the field of tourism, increase tourism exchange and expertise among BRICS member states, and make the tourism sector more resilient and sustainable, capable of overcoming existing global challenges that negatively impact the sector.

Tharwat concluded by emphasizing that the tourism sector contributes to the economic prosperity of BRICS countries, underscoring the importance of coordinating efforts and cooperation to achieve prosperity and progress for our nations and a promising future for future generations.
