Countries Sending the Most Visitors to Turkey in Five Months Revealed
Ministry of Culture and Tourism Releases Visitor Numbers for the First Five Months of 2024

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has released data showing that the number of foreign visitors to Turkey in the first five months of 2024 increased by 12.47% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 15.784 million. Including the 2.024 million Turkish citizens who entered the country between January and March, the total number of visitors recorded was 17.809 million.
Germany Leads the Market
In the first five months, 5.767 million visitors came from European-OECD countries, a 20.57% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Germany topped the list, sending 1.852 million visitors, marking a 16.95% increase.
Growth in Other European Markets
Austria saw an 18.10% rise with 127,000 visitors, Belgium had a 14.22% increase with 170,000 visitors, France experienced a 20.83% rise with 343,000 visitors, the Netherlands saw a 16.45% increase with 408,000 visitors, the UK had a 23.14% rise with 1.209 million visitors, Italy saw a 22.49% increase with 189,000 visitors, Poland experienced a 36.31% rise with 394,000 visitors, and Greece saw a 22.51% increase with 294,000 visitors.
Current Situation in Russia
Russia, sending 1.817 million visitors with a 1.24% increase, ranked second among the countries sending the most visitors to Turkey. Ukraine also saw a 15.73% increase with 290,000 visitors. The number of visitors from CIS countries rose by 5.90% to 3.759 million.
Significant Increases from Asia and America
Additionally, the first five months of 2024 saw a 4.65% increase in visitors from the USA (389,000), a 95.04% increase from Japan (43,000), a 40.59% increase from South Korea (79,000), a 125.71% increase from China (130,000), and a 47.03% increase from Iran (1.165 million).
Decline from Gulf Countries and Israel Continues
However, there were decreases in visitors from Gulf countries and Israel. Bahrain saw a 1.20% decrease (24,000 visitors), Iraq had a 15.43% decrease (297,000 visitors), Israel experienced a 90.51% decrease (25,000 visitors), Qatar saw a 13.62% decrease (14,000 visitors), Kuwait had a 21.25% decrease (87,000 visitors), Jordan saw a 15.95% decrease (83,000 visitors), and Yemen experienced a 6.82% decrease (10,000 visitors).
On the other hand, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) saw an 8.79% increase (28,000 visitors), Lebanon had a 24.69% increase (86,000 visitors), and Saudi Arabia experienced a 24.43% increase (211,000 visitors).
